Yesterday, the Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs hosted ARC D’IRIS: Performance for Opening Your Soul, a transformative spectacle by La Fura dels Baus and the Orquestra del Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona. This innovative blend of classical music and visual art drew a diverse audience of over 300 to the top floor of the Manifesta 15 venue, set amidst thought-provoking works by Claire Fontaine and Asad Raza. The evening redefined the concert experience, merging art, music, and industrial architecture with the illuminated cityscape as a striking backdrop.
Under the direction of Marc Migó, the orchestra performed Epitaphium: In Memoriam Hans Rott, Concerto Grosso in A Minor by Händel, and Seguidilla from Carmen, sung by mezzo-soprano Mar Esteve. Esteve captivated the audience while suspended from a trapeze, dressed in an industrial-inspired costume by TXU Studio (Joana Poulastrou and Chu Uroz) and holding aviation lights that echoed the form of the Chimneys themselves.
This evocative performance by La Fura dels Baus serves as a prelude to their forthcoming opera, signalling a bold artistic vision and an invitation to imagine the future of the iconic venue.
