On Monday, 14th October, OJO Estudio presented their project Cultural Greenhouse at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) at their Barcelona Headquarters. The project, commissioned by Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana, focuses on redesigning the exterior space of the Three Chimneys to welcome the biennial visitors and various activities. During the presentation, the architects outlined their design strategies, which included the use of recycled materials and spatial configurations aimed at fostering new public interactions.
Following the presentation, a roundtable discussion was held to explore community engagement with the proposal. The discussion featured Jose A. Gras (urban planner and Fourth Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Sustainable Territory, Environment, and Animal Welfare at Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council) and Oriol Roig (Industrial and Landscape Designer at Escofet), and was moderated by Dani Crespo, Mobility and Logistics Coordinator for Manifesta 15. Key points from the conversation highlighted how the biennial's activities and temporary interventions have revitalised the area, transforming it into a lively, safer public space.
