Jin Choi & Thomas Shine extend an invitation for you to take part in a collective crochet initiative during the month of June and July for their project URCHINS. This installation will be showcased in September at The Three Chimneys as part of the Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana programme.
The artwork, a substantial structure crafted from iron and crocheted rope, draws inspiration from the skeleton of a sea urchin. It serves as a tribute to Barcelona's textile and fishing heritage, with a particular emphasis on the historical struggles of women for improved working conditions and environmental preservation. URCHINS prompts reflection on the restoration of connections with the sea for future generations.
Individuals and groups proficient in crochet techniques are encouraged to join a series of sessions. Those who are interested in participating can write to the email m15education@manifesta.org.
