This programme seeks to create spaces for reflection and mutual learning for educators, through three modules that combine theory and practice. These meetings will have artists and researchers participating and will focus on three thematic axes: education as a political act, pedagogical renovations and the relationship with the environment and diversity.
This programme is based on the research carried out by the Manifesta 15 Education Department, 'Fora per fer Escola', which focuses on the progressive educational initiatives that took place in Catalonia before and after the Franco dictatorship.
Specifically, in this module we will talk about two key pedagogical situations that highlights education as something which is constantly changing: L’Escola del Mar and the pedagogical movement of the Escola Nova. During the session of the 19th of April, Carmen Agulló, Sara Torres and Fanny Figueras will critically reflect on the implementation of new curricula and alternative pedagogies: is innovation a necessity that comes from schools or can it be seen as an imposition? On Saturday the 20th of April the Teachers’ Camp will continue with a joint work session led by Alba Oller where exercises and practical dynamics will reflect on the current situation of teachers based on the previous day's conversation.
We encourage those working in education and interested in reflecting on teaching to participate in the sessions. The programme will conclude with the creation of teaching material applicable to the educational context.
