Sant Cugat del Vallès is a youthful city located at the foot of the Collserola mountain range and in one of the country's main economic hubs.
The first historical vestiges of Sant Cugat can be found from the remains of the first ancient settlers to the first village inhabited by farmers around the monastery. In 1978, the town of Sant Cugat was elevated to city status. Shortly before, its features began to change by industries and factories that transformed the predominantly agricultural landscape. To accommodate the demographic increase at the end of the 20th century, an urban expansion was deployed, planned to maintain a quality of life and a balance with the environment.
In the 21st century, the economy of the city has left behind the agricultural sector and has opted for the service sector, as well as the renewable energy industry.
