This past weekend, Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana held De riu a riu, a collective bike ride, bicicletada, that brought together almost 700 cyclists in a celebration of sustainable mobility and safer citywide connectivity along the metropolitan litoral.
The coastal route began at the former riverbed of the Llobregat River, continued along Barcelona’s waterfront, crossed the Besòs River, and concluded at the Manifesta 15 venue, the iconic Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs. Upon arrival, the diverse and festive crowd enjoyed a lively atmosphere, with refreshments and a live DJ set by DJ Que Baila.
Local press covering the event praised the diversity of participants and expressed hope that it might spark a wider conversation on the need to address the disconnection between the two rivers and catalyse meaningful change.
De riu a riu was organised in collaboration with Biciclot and the Bicicleta Club de Catalunya (BACC) and was made possible with the support of Zona Franca, the Port of Barcelona, and the city councils of Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
