The iconic Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs, near Barcelona, stand as a testament to the region's industrial heritage. Constructed between 1971 and 1976, these towering structures were part of a thermal power plant operated by Fecsa-Endesa. For decades, they were instrumental in providing electricity to the metropolitan area, symbolising the rapid industrial growth of the late 20th century.

The plant ceased operations in 2011, and since then, the chimneys have become emblematic relics, representing both the area's industrial past and its potential for future redevelopment. Efforts to preserve the chimneys have been supported by residents and cultural heritage advocates, who see them as integral to the community's identity. The chimneys highlight the challenges and opportunities of urban and social regeneration in the expansive areas left behind by industry.

Today, Manifesta 15 is working in collaboration with Front Marítim del Besòs to bring the biennial to this historic venue. Front Marítim del Besòs owns the land where the former Sant Adrià del Besòs power station stands. The company, a joint venture between the electricity company Endesa and the property developer Metrovacesa, is temporarily lending the area for Manifesta 15 to open it for the first time to the public.
